Mission:

Motivated by the students I could not reach despite all efforts, I began researching. The research quickly led me to the science of reading and the gold standard of intervention, Orton-Gillingham. My lifelong philosophy of “if not me than who” led me to take OG courses from Canadian and American fellows. Much to my surprise, I discovered that the miracle I was hoping for had existed for almost 100 years. It is VERY possible to teach students to read and write using multimodal, explicit, systematic, and individualized instruction. The miracle was science.

Determined to make a difference in the classroom and in the community, I finished my Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator (OGCE) and OG Practitioner (OGP) Courses and practicum and I am certified with OG Canada at the Associate OGP level. A passionate advocate for children, I am excited to bring my experience and expertise to children in the Edmonton community. Not being able to read and write fluently can make school challenging, cause low self-esteem, depression and other mental health issues, and lead to missed opportunities. Removing the barriers to success and giving a child back the hope of living the life they were meant to live is my passion. Let’s drill some square holes and learn to read and write in a way that makes sense for SLD students.
